Mediation Monday Founder and Volunteer
Bernalillo County Mediation Lawyer
The courts in Bernalillo County mandate that divorcing couples who are unable to reach a settlement go through mediation before bringing their dispute before a judge. Attorney Cortez is a seasoned mediator. Her 29-plus years of experience have given her the ability to look at challenges from the outside and see solutions that others may miss. She understands how to keep lines of communication open.
Justice for All
Good legal counsel shouldn’t just be for those who can afford it. Attorney Cortez’s belief in that basic premise led her to start the pilot program Mediation Mondays. Every Monday, at the Second Judicial District Court in Albuquerque, she does free mediation for those who need it. Interested parties—including fellow lawyers who may want to give something back to the community—are invited to call us or simply drop by the courthouse on a Monday to learn more.
Michelle's passion for mediation goes back to her last semester of undergraduate school. She started Cortez Family Law in 1995 which became Cortez & Hoskovec, when she joined forces with her law partner in 2014. She founded ABQ Facilitation in 2022.
